Experienced drivers.

The DSA is now assessing driving test candidates on "Eco Safe" driving. By this, they mean driving in a way that maximises fuel efficiency and minimises wear and tear on the car. Saving fuel IS NOT about getting the car in the highest possible gear as soon as possible, in fact, this can be the worst thing to do. Experienced drivers, however, tend to drive the way they were taught to, combined with habits they have picked up over the years. Modern cars do not work the way cars did when I was taught to drive and to get the best out of them, both performance and economy wise, you need to drive them differently.

A 2 hour refresher lesson can be a very cost efficient way of lowering your fuel expenses. As a very rough guide, a driver driving 10,000 miles per year, in a car averaging 35mpg will save just over £40 for every 1mpg saved (based on £1.12/litre).

If you passed some time ago, but haven't driven for a while, then I can give you refresher lessons and cover anything you feel unhappy with, such as motorways or roundabouts. Lessons can be in my car, or yours if insured, and will take whatever form necessary to get your confidence back up. I will not push you, but at the same time I won't treat you like a learner who knows nothing.

I can also teach you what you need to know to supervise a learner driver to current test standards. The test has changed a lot recently, so make sure you are teaching your kids what THEY need to do, not what you had to do.

Preparation for an advanced driving test is available, as is defensive driving instruction. After all, the best way to survive an accident is to avoid it in the first place! Insurance companies are very aware of this and, these days, quite large discounts are negotiable for drivers with an advanced driving qualification.
